Haus Spore and the House of Public Interest Journalism

Outdoor facilities and roof terrace

With Haus Spore in Berlin-Neukölln, the Schöpflin Foundation has created a venue for intercultural exchange and events focusing on sustainability, biodiversity and social justice. We carried out the landscaping around the newly constructed complex – which also houses the House of Non-Profit Journalism – in several construction phases.

The project

In implementing the project, we used natural materials such as natural stone, clinker bricks and a selection of plants tailored to the location, which echoes the building’s status as an award-winning example of sustainability.

A particular highlight is the intricately crafted wooden deck on the roof terrace on the third floor. In addition, paths made of perforated clinker bricks with grass-filled joints characterise the grounds and lend them a distinctive, vibrant texture.
