As part of the construction of the new rhino enclosure at Berlin Zoo, we were responsible for the landscaping of the spacious outdoor areas. The natural enclosures for rhinoceroses, tapirs and warthogs were equipped with watercourses, mud pools and lush vegetation – inspired by the tropical wetlands of South Asia. The aim was to create species-appropriate habitats with a high quality of life for both animals and visitors alike.
Ziel war es, artgerechte Lebensräume mit hoher Aufenthaltsqualität für Tiere und Besucher gleichermaßen zu schaffen. Das Projekt ist Teil der langfristigen Modernisierungsstrategie des Zoos und setzt neue Maßstäbe in puncto Tierhaltung und Gestaltung.
