Playground Construction

Playground construction is an important part of landscaping. New playgrounds are now frequently developed as part of green corridors in modern residential developments or as part of urban district revitalization projects. In addition, many existing playgrounds at schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers have aged and require modernization. As a landscaping group, we have built extensive expertise in playground construction—benefiting every client we work with. Here, we show how we design playgrounds that are fun, safe, and harmoniously integrated into broader design concepts.

When selecting and installing play equipment, we follow key standards such as EN 1176, which ensures safety and quality. Depending on the project and the client's wishes, additional criteria may be considered. One example is the choice of materials—untreated natural wood gives a playground a very different character than playhouses or climbing structures made from heavily treated wood, plastic, or metal.

A clear trend is toward nature-oriented designs that integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape plan.

Green play islands can form part of larger green corridors designed for multiple purposes. These spaces offer attractive recreational areas for children and parents while simultaneously contributing to the local microclimate. At the same time, they serve other user groups for relaxation or physical activity.

In addition to such integrated projects, traditional playground construction remains just as relevant. In these cases, the focus is on a clearly defined area—typically part of a school, after-school care facility, or daycare center—that requires new planning. Here too, it is beneficial to involve companies that are familiar with native plants, capable of handling earthworks and path construction, and experienced in drainage and irrigation systems.
